Isaiah Study
As we read through Isaiah, we need to be aware of a theory about the book. Theologians often refer to Deutero-Isaiah. This is because Isaiah is written in two styles. The styles are so different that many people believe Isaiah was written by two authors or maybe at two different times. [Something to look at - when does the second style begin? How does that apply to our Bible?] More about that later...
Isaiah 1 contains a most beautiful verse. Verse 18 says, "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool."
God's words - "Come, let us reason together." Wow - God wants us to work out our salvation. To work it out with Him! To reason TOGETHER with Yahweh. Here, The Maker of the universe, invites us to a relationship that results in the washing away of sins.
We are invited to that relationship still today. That is God's character. "Come - now - reason with Me..."
And your response is...?
If you have a comment you want to share with "the class" about Isaiah 1, send it my way. I'm sure our church would benefit from iron sharpening iron.
