Isaiah 66

Isaiah's last chapter, and he ends with a bang.

"Thus says the Lord, 'Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool.  Where then is a house you could build for Me?  And where is a place that I may rest?  For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,' declares the Lord.  But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word."

Isaiah 66 tells us that God wants us to know what He is looking for.  Have you ever considered what makes God look in your direction?  What makes God pay attention?

What made the prodigal son's father run to him?
What made Jesus stand at Stephen's death?
What made Yahweh wrestle with Jacob?
What made Jehovah come to the tent with Abraham?

What makes God look at me and you?  and then smile?  and then wrap His arms around us???

The rest of this chapter gives us more of a hint.  God goes on to describe His people as newborn children.  There is a lesson there.  Newborns need, and are not ashamed to ask.  Newborns wonder, and are not afraid to question.

Newborns cannot survive alone.

"To this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word."
