James 2:12-13
So speak and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
Often we find ourselves avoiding judgment. James seems to desire a head-on confrontation with it. Speak (and act) as those who are judged by the law of liberty. That is the law that sets us free. What kind of law can set us free? Laws are for capturing us... This is a different kind of law, the law of liberty. And we are judged by it? Judged by a law that sets us free.
James tells us to act like we are set free.
But how often do we do that? More often than not, we act like we are avoiding judgment, rather than acting like we are free. What is the difference? When we avoid judgment, we play defense. When we live like we are free, we dwell in mercy.
Does mercy triumph over judgment? in your life?
Do you act like it? Speak like it? Live like it?
