James 2:18 - 20
But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?
Here we find the question that James 2 relies on: Is faith without works dead?
James argues that you cannot show faith without works. In this section, James reminds us of the demons. How they believe that God is one. The demons believe in God, and they shudder at the thought of Him. So what is the difference between that believe and faith?
The answer is, according to James, what the demons do.
The same will be said of us. Do you believe in God? Does that belief produce faith? You can tell if does - what you do. How you act. Where you go.
You can tell if that belief produces faith and so can everyone that witnesses your life.
