Ezekiel 10
Ezekiel 10 has some imagery that is to be interpreted both for the future and for Ezekiel's audience.
There are some basic thoughts that God explains to Ezekiel, and thus to us.
Take careful notice of the first verse: "...in the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim... something resembling a throne..."
Here we learn of the sovereignty of God. He is above all. His very throne is higher than anything we recognize. Imagine the image - God above all. The challenge for us is to live that.
The next verse is just as powerful.
"And He spoke... fill your hands with coals of fire to scatter over the city."
Notice Who sends the destruction. Notice Who allows it. Notice how God explains what He is doing? He doesn't need to. His word is the last word. His command is followed - period.
The challenge, again, is for us to live that.
God is gracious, true. He shows mercy, yes. But bottom line: God is the Lord.
