Ezekiel 37

Ezekiel 37 proves to us the power of prophesy.  More importantly, it shows the strength and glory of God's word!

Ezekiel begins the chapter by telling of his trip in the spirit to the valley of dry bones.  Ezekiel is surrounded by death.  The skeletons of fallen soldiers everywhere.  This is the people of Israel.  This is the collection of who we are.  Then God says, "Speak My words..."

Our first lesson:  God's word gives life!

Now Ezekiel is told to pick up two sticks and connect the two of them to each other.  "Write My words..."

When the people ask, why, Ezekiel is to respond, "These two have become one."

One is Israel, One is Judah.

Our second lesson:  God's word provides unity.

The questions for the modern Christian are:  Do I have a life in me that is indescribable?  Am I experiencing unity?  If not, where is the word of God in my life?

Does it ever show the strength and glory of His Word! Hallelujah! God's Word does make our "dry bones" come to life when we follow it. I have come to realize that unity in the Body does produce Spirit life and vitality in us. We can guard that fiercely and that interaction in service together is made full through the bond of peace. When we commit to serving together (and praying together)it makes it much easier to stay in unity. It's when we pull away that we are in danger of losing it.

      Heather, you are so right.

And do you notice that the two sticks don't have to look like each other, or be the same size or length. Just the two of them working together makes them more effective!!!
