Ezekiel 40-41
All of us submit to measuring.
Sometimes we are measured by our spouses, or our parents. Sometimes our peers do all the measuring. Sometimes it is our job associates or the people for whom we perform. Sometimes we do all of the measuring ourselves.
What is more, we use many standards for measurement:
We compare ourselves to our siblings, our friends, are parents, the people we see on the streets, the Jones', and whoever happens to be in "Seventeen" magazine that week.
Ezekiel 40, 41 and following describe God's measuring program.
Here we see a man with the appearance of bronze holding a measuring standard. I wonder how many of us would survive if we used that measuring standard on our lives. But that is the point. Only God keeps measurement of who you are. He knows the hairs on your head and keeps count of your days before you start to live them. God wove you up in your mother's womb.
He holds the standard - there is no need to compare yourself to anyone else.
