Philippians 1:7

"Even as it is right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because you have me in your heart.  You are continuing to be partakers of grace with me, both in my bonds and the defense and vindication of the gospel."

The Philippian church (once again, Panton Imon, All of you...) displayed characteristics that became catalysts for the growth of God's grace:

They have their spiritual leaders in their heart.  In a world were leaders fall alone, Paul, Timothy, Silas and Luke were held close to the church's heart.

They partake in grace continually - in other words, they live "Grace-lives".  Many churches default to cynicism when trouble comes, or they say, "God is mad at us for some reason,"  This church defaults to "God's grace is enough."

They shared Paul's chains.  The words we might use today are sympathy and empathy.

They defended the gospel.  This world can experience trouble, no doubt.  But how do you deal with that trouble?  The church at Philippi believed that God's Good News changes lives.  They were ready to defend that belief to the end.

What would Paul say about your defense of the gospel?  Your heart for spiritual leaders?  Your relationship to those who are suffering?
