Philippians 1:12-14
"I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has helped to spread the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to everyone else that my imprisonment is for Christ; and most of the brothers and sisters having been made confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, dare to speak the word with greater boldness and without fear."
Paul is addressing a question that we all ask: why me?
Paul's answer is the correct one: I don't know... but,
He looks at his life and what the Philippians know about him and tells them some suggestions for why he is imprisoned.
Maybe it is to help inspire prisoners? Maybe to embolden the Christian testimony. Maybe to show the gospel to people who deserve to be in jail. Maybe the Roman guard needs to understand what a mighty Lord they could have if they traded Caesar for Christ!
We do not know the reason for the location God has placed us into. Sometimes, we may feel like our location is a place of prison. But what does God know about where we are? Everything!
Paul is looking at his current life through future hope. He is assuming God (Who always has a plan) has a plan for his life. He will trust in God.
Is it possible to trust in God's plan when you do not know what that plan is?
