Philippians 2:5-7
"Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men."
This is the second time in Philippians that Paul uses the word, "Doulous" translated, slave or bond-servant. The first time Paul uses it to describe himself and Timothy. This time it is used to describe the Savior.
Paul is describing the sacrifice of Jesus, but not the death and resurrection, not the sacrifice that leads to our salvation.
Paul reminds us here what Jesus did to be with us. Why did Jesus want to live with us?
Emptied Himself, didn't consider equality with God the best option for this time (funny, that is exactly the opposite of the Satan story), being made - imagine the Creator allowing Himself to be created.
Does this sacrifice change the way we look at God?
What does the divine motive of being a bond-servant mean for my life?
