Philippians 2:12-13
"So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure."
"Work out your salvation with fear and trembling..."
What part do we play in working through salvation? What part does God play in working on our salvation? Didn't God take care of all of our salvation when He died on the cross? Is salvation is a growing entity.
Paul gives us something very somber to consider, here. Our salvation. Not our relationship with God, but our salvation from a life without God. Why the seriousness? Look where Paul tells us God works - in us.
Paul is suggesting that if God is working in us, for His good pleasure, then when we work on the things "in us", we are closer to the pleasure of God.
Practically speaking: Work on abolishing sin in my life, and I am partnering with God. Work on seeking God's will in my life, and I am partnering with God. Work on my salvation, and I am working right beside a Savior who was crucified that I may find salvation.
Do you try to work on others' salvation rather than working on your own?
What do you do to work on salvation in your life?
