Song of Songs 2:16-17
"My beloved is mine, and I am his; He pastures his flock among the lilies. Until the cool of the day when the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of Bether."
This quote comes from the bride.
Chapter two draws to a conclusion while the bride expresses her understanding of the timing of her relationship with the Groom. When she says that he pastures his flock among the lilies, she is complimenting him on his ability to read the scenery for the bast season to pasture. This is also her way of reminding the groom that she is waiting for his timing.
But she does not want to wait forever.
When the sun begins to set - the cool of the day - she is ready for her beloved to be like a gazelle. Quick! Ready! Sprite!
Sometimes, the lover must be ready immediately. Sometimes, God requires this same readiness from us.
Our challenge today is to be ready. If you were to meet the Lover, Jesus, today - what aspect of our lives would we wish was ready for action.
