Song of Songs 3:6-8

"What is this coming up from the wilderness like columns of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all scened powders of the merchant?  Behold, it is the traveling couch of Solomon; sixty mighty men around it, of the mighty men of Israel.  All of them are wielders of the sword, expert in war; each man has his sword at his side, guarding against the terrors of the night."

This quote comes from the bride.

This is the wedding procession.  Here, the groom, Solomon, is coming to receive his bride.  She is peeking out the window and here is what she sees.

Now there are two aspects to the groom that catch the bride's eyes.  One, the smell.  This is not to say she can smell the groom's cologne.  It is an aesthetics situation.  He looks so good she can almost smell him - taste him - touch him...

The second aspect is the power that is involved with his arrival.  Sixty mighty men, all with swords at the ready, protecting against every unseen danger.

In other words, Solomon is putting on his very best to come and receive his bride.  This is the same thing God did when He came to receive you and I.  Christ came with gentleness - so close we could see Him, hear Him, touch Him, and He came with power.  God put on His very best to receive His bride.

The challenge today is to look for God moving in power.  Who are His swordsmen today?
