Song of Songs 3:9-11
"King Solomon has made for himself a sedan chair from the timber of Lebanon. He made its posts of silver, its back of gold and its seat of purple fabric, with its interior lovingly fitted out by the daughters of Jerusalem. Go forth, O daughters of Zion, and gaze on king Solomon with the crown with which his mother has crowned him on the day of his wedding, and on the day of his gladness of heart."
This is the continued quote from the bride.
Here the beloved bride speaks to the lavishness of the groom's procession. It is easy to say that king Solomon looks great, but the bride is saying something more. She is letting everyone know that king Solomon looks great for her! This is HER wedding day.
When it comes to accepting lavish gifts that are designed for you, we should follow the bride's example. Go forth, and gaze on Solomon, the bride tells her listeners. This is exactly what we do when we point people to Jesus. We are saying: Look at the gift which God has lavishly poured out on me, on you, on us.
If you want a real challenge today, try pointing to a gift that you received and praising the name of the one who gave it. How would it make you feel if someone spoke that way about your gift?
