Song of Songs 5:14-16
"His hands are rods of gold set with beryl; his abdomen is carved ivory inlaid with sapphires. His legs are pillars of alabaster set on pedestals of pure gold; his appearance is like Lebanon, choice as the cedars. His mouth is full of sweetness, and he is wholly desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem."
This quote is the bride.
Here the bride continues praising her beloved, but this time she praises the appearance of something else. His hands, feet, abdomen. All things that show power. She is not merely complimenting the way he looks, but the way he takes care of himself and the power he has to take care of others.
One interesting point: The bride tells the chorus that Solomon's appearance is like Lebanon (verse 15). Remember, the bride is from Lebanon. In a sense, she is saying that Solomon reminds her of everything that has always been important to her. He reminds her of her home. This is what Christ has done with us as well. Only, instead of reminding us of our old home, He reminds us that life with Him leads to the home He prepares for us.
Our challenge today is to praise God for all that He does to take care of others.
