Song of Songs 8:1-4

"Oh that you were like a brother to me who nursed at my mother's breasts.  If I found you outdoors, I would kiss you; no one would despise me, either.  I would lead you and bring you into the house of my mother, who used to instruct me; I would give you spiced wine to drink from the juice of my pomegranates.  Let his left hand be under my head, and his right hand embrace me."
"I want you to swear, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not arouse or awaken my love, until she pleases."

Apparently, someone has trouble with the idea of this love.  Who despises this lover's love?

Often we see people that are happy, and our first response is to be a little jealous.  Or maybe we feel like what they have is not real.

The bride handles this conflict in two waves.  She wishes that everyone would see this love as pure.  "I wish you were my brother, then nobody would wonder at our connectedness..."

The second wave is to wish for proximity with her groom.  That his right hand would be holding on to her, while his left hand is around her head.  She wants physical proximity.

This prompts the groom to demand, one more time, that the crowd gathered around his bride does not awaken passion before it is time.

Passion, love, intimacy all happen in their own timing.  The wise couple realizes that growth will always be taking place.

Your challenge today is to determine where love is taking you.
