Song of Songs 8:8-9
"We have a little sister, and she has no breasts; what shall we do for our sister on the day when she is spoken for? If she is a wall, we shall build on her a battlement of silver; but if she is a door, we shall barricade her with planks of cedar."
This quote is the first from the chorus.
Here the gathered group of ladies in waiting begin to assess the transition of the bride as she enters into a love relationship. What would we do for her as she walks into this love?
If she was a wall/ if she was a door...
If she fought against the love and made her stand as a wall, keeping everything protected, the ladies in waiting would place a battlement array on her - in other words, they would help her protect herself.
If she was a door, letting everything in, they would barricade her and protect her.
She will tell us which she is in verse 10, but our challenge for today is to realize what attitude we have toward love and others.
