Mark 5:21-24
In these verses we meet a man at the end of his rope.
Jairus comes to Jesus and cannot stand on his feet - he must bow before the One who is rumored to heal. What would make an official in the synagogue do something like this? He is well educated and knows that an Israelite man does not bow to anyone or anything, save God Himself. Does Jairus know that Jesus is God?
His daughter is sick, and obviously he will do anything to find her well. Wouldn't you do the same?
Then Jesus does something out of character. He has the option of healing the girl from where He stands. Jesus could simply speak a word and all would be well. And most of the healings that we see with Jesus happen because someone brings the sick to Jesus. This is not the case here.
So Jesus tells Jairus, "Let's take a walk together."
How long must that walk have been? It will be interrupted by another one who is ill. It will be criticized by the crowd and by the people of Jairus' house. And it will be more than worth it.
How about your walk with God?
