Mark 7:31-37

Jesus heals a man who cannot hear.  This is miraculous and cannot be overlooked, even though Jesus seems to heal people out of sheer habit more than anything else.  He is THAT in touch with the Father.  He is THAT much the great physician.

The sigh is what I wonder about.

In verse 34, Jesus is preparing to heal the deaf man when He looks to heaven, and according to Mark, sighs a heavy sigh.

When I sigh, it means I am weary of something - or tired of something - or maybe a little unsure of the intelligence of the people around me...  Why does Jesus sigh?

Is there something different about this man?

Is there something different in Jesus this day?

Jesus was called a man who was familiar with sorrow by Isaiah.  Perhaps Jesus was sighing under the weight of sorrow for the deaf man.  Perhaps God was that weary of sickness and pain.  Perhaps Jesus still is.
