Mark 11:1-10
This passage is reminder for us of God's sovereignty.
Not only do these verses show us that Jesus, God in the flesh, understands the hearts of man and the way things are to happen, but it also shows that Jesus has great understanding of the old testament prophesies concerning His life.
To take Jesus' words out of the context of the whole Bible makes Him look like a prophet. He knows what is about to happen all the way to where a donkey will come from. He could be a fortune teller, if judged out of context.
When we use the entirety of scripture to read Jesus' words, we find that God works all things to get to this point in our history. Jesus recognizes this. He knows there will be a colt, because that is what God has prepared. He knows there will be a crowd, because that is what God desires. He knows scripture plays an important part in His future.
And we are called to understand the same thing.
When you look at scripture, do you see something that is made for someone else, or do you see writing for your heart? Will this book change the way you live your life?
