Jonah 1:4-6

The Lord hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea so that the ship was about to break up.  Then the sailors became afraid and every man cried to his god, and they threw the cargo which was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them.  But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, lain down and fallen sound asleep.  So the captain approached him and said, "How is it that you are sleeping?  Get up, call on your god.  Perhaps your god will be concerned about us so that we will not perish."

Perhaps your god will be concerned about us...

This is exactly what we are looking for:  A god that is concerned about us.  There is only One!

Even in this scene, Jonah's contemporaries needed to know that someone cared.  This is why we are known by our love.  The world wants someone to care.  The world needs Someone to care.

Jonah was in the wrong place:  a boat headed toward Tarshish instead of a donkey going toward Nineveh.  Still, he trusted God enough with his life that he slept in the boat.  Jonah knew the God that cared about people.

Do you?

The challenge for us today is teaching others about the God that cares.  We must tell them and show them God's love.
