Micah 1:8-11

"Because of this I must lament and wail, I must go barefoot and naked; I must make a lament like the jackals and a mourning like the ostriches.  For her wound is incurable; for it is come to Judah; it has reached the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.  Tell it not in Gath, weep not at all.  At Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust.  Go on your way, inhabitant of Shaphir, in shameful nakedness.  The inhabitant of Zaanan does not escape.  The lamentation of Beth-ezel:  He will take from you its support."

These sentences are what makes Micah stand out above many other prophets.  In fact, in these sentences, we see the main difference between Micah and Jonah.  This is why Micah's name means, "He who is like Jehovah."

Micah laments.  Micah cries out.

Micah is effected by the current trend of Israel.  Micah is hurt by the lack of obedience to God.  Micah feels compassion and empathy.

Jesus does too.  Jesus is seen crying when His friend dies.  He weeps for Jerusalem.  He feels compassion for the lost.

Are we hurt by sin today?  Or, can we sweep it under our emotional rugs and forget that ever we were people in need?
