Micah 2:4-5

"On that day they will take up against you a taunt and utter a bitter lamentation and say, 'We are completely destroyed!  He exchanges the portion of my people; How He removes it from me!  To the apostate He apportions our fields.'  Therefore, you will have no one stretching a measuring line for you by lot in the assembly of the Lord."

There is a rule about the people of God:  They are all equal in His sight.  This is the basis for the 'year of jubilee', that every 70 years families all get their land back - equal shares.  The people become peers.

The wealthy in the time of Micah (these are the ones Micah is prophesying against) refused to follow that rule.  They exploited the people out of their land and the exploited the land.  God was not thrilled!

So God is standing up for the downtrodden.  He is 'removing the lampstands' of those who hurt the little guy.  He is taking revenge for the guilty.

When Micah says, 'you will have no one stretching a measuring line for you...' he is reminding the people of when they first entered the promised land.  Joshua, by lot, assigned a piece of property for every tribe and family.  That privilege is no longer afforded the ones who take advantage.

The message here is simple:  God looks out for us when we can not.  Vengeance is Mine sayeth the Lord.
