Micah 5:7-9

"Then the remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on vegetation which do not wait for man or delay for the sons of men.  And the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which, if he passes through, tramples down and tears, and there is none to rescue.  Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies will be cut off."

This section of poetry from Micah sounds very much like a revenge psalm that David might have written.  God is pointing His people to the power that they will possess after rescue.

Micah tells the people of Israel that the remnant will be many.  He says so many will be rescued that they will be like the dew on the ground - too numerous to count.  This reminds the people of Jacob of the covenant promise given to Abram.

Next, Micah says the people will be powerful compared to their enemies.  Like a lion walking through a field of sheep.  Nothing is there to stop them.  They are powerful because of the Rescuer!

Micah finishes this prophesy by saying the enemies of the remnant will be cut off.  Who are the remnant's enemies?  They are those that oppress and hurt the people of God.  they are those that lead the people of God astray.

He who is like Jehovah will be rescued into strength.
