Micah 7:9-13

"I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my case and executes justice for me.  He will bring me out to the light, and I will see His righteousness.  Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, 'Where is the Lord your God?'  My eyes will look on her; at that time she will be trampled down, like mire on the streets.  It will be a day for building your walls.  On that day will your boundary be extended.  It will be a day when they come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, from Egypt even to the Euphrates, even from sea to sea and mountain to mountain, and the earth will become desolate because of her inhabitants, on account of the fruit of their deeds."

This section of Micah has to be taken in two parts.  One part is the confession.  The second is the expected response to the confession.

Confession.  How beautiful it is to see leaders confess sins.  Micah is taking responsibility for his shortcomings.  He tells us that he will bear the indignation of the Lord - he does not say he is doing better than most, or he is forced into sin against his will...  He just accepts responsibility.

Then he tells us what will happen next.  Because of repentance, he will expand his borders.  Even his enemies will come to him - all because he realizes he has done wrong and apologizes to God about it.

He who is like Jehovah takes responsibilities for his own sin.
