Acts 1:6-9
"So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, 'Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?' He said to them, 'It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.' And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight."
Here in the first chapter of Acts, Jesus, once again, promises the Holy Spirit visitation. He tells His apostles that they will receive power. He also promises the twelve that they will have 'no idea' about the times that God has ordained.
Imagine you are one standing there. Here is the roller coaster ride you are on:
You ask, "Is this when Your Kingdom comes?" (you are confused)
Jesus says, "You don't have the amount of understanding it takes to be told those kind of things."(you are down)
"Oh, and by the way," He says, "you will be mighty and power-filled because God is not through with His visitation of you." (you are up)
then, without saying goodbye - He is gone. (you are bewildered)
Now you have a choice. Choose to believe that God has left you again, or choose to believe that He is getting ready to empower you with His presence.
There is a reason why the book of Acts is about the beginning of the church, instead of the ending.
The apostles choose to believe in God's power and presence.
Does this describe the way you act?
