Acts 2:1-6
"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each of them was hearing them speak in his own language."
The Holy Spirit begins working in the church. The apostles are there, along with others. And suddenly, with glory and drama, God visits His people.
Why did the Holy Spirit visit?
Let's look at the work that happens here. The apostles are changed, from the inside. Those that are friends of Jesus see something that they might have never expected. But the real winner: The Jews that were in Jerusalem at that time.
This is how the Holy Spirit works. The Holy Spirit changes the people that it comes in contact with. Always. It is like the rain, making everything more glorious with its touch.
Often we try to contain the Holy Spirit - but we cannot. The Holy Spirit touch on our lives is meant as much for us as for others around us.
What God gives changes the world.
