Acts 3:5-7

"And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.  But Peter said, 'I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene - walk!'  And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened."

This is a bold move on the part of Peter if for no other reason than the fact that it was untested.  Peter had not healed a man before.  He had seen it done, many times.  Jesus healed people like it was eating lunch.  But Peter?  No.

So when he is confronted with this need, he knows what must be done.  But does Peter have the strength to meet the need?  No.

This is why Peter gives the lame man an inventory of his assets.  I don't possess...

"But what I do have," is Peter's way of telling the man that he is connected to Someone who does have the power to change his life.  I know a Man who heals the sick, the deaf, the blind, the lame...  He has the power to heal weather He is here or not.  He even conquered the grave.  I will give you all of Him.

And the man was strengthened.  It wasn't that he could walk - it was that he was sharing in the strength of the Lord.

This was what Peter had to offer.

What do you offer?
