Acts 5:40-42
"They took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. So they went on their way from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ."
The presence of Jesus has a way of changing every perspective you have.
The apostles had just gotten into trouble, they considered it an honor. In fact, when they were beaten, all they could say was how wonderful it is to serve Jesus. When they were told not to preach, all they heard was the voice of God. When the temple became too much to bear, they took the message of Christ to houses.
These were changed men and women.
What we must consider is how the Gospel of Christ changes us. Not that we need changing - as we are all so close to perfect, but that we GET to change.
I think that is how the apostles would have viewed the lifestyle change: They don't have to change, they get to. I'll bet they would rejoice in the fact that they were counted worthy of the presence of God.
Do we consider that a gift?
