Acts 6:12-15

"And they stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they dragged him away, and brought hm before the council.  And they put forward false witnesses who said, 'This man incessantly speaks against this holy place, and the Law; for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us.'  And fixing their gaze upon him, all who were sitting in the council saw his face like the face of an angel."

In an ironic twist of events, the false witnesses claimed that Jesus, and Stephen His servant, were speaking out against the law and the holy place of the temple.

Now Jesus spoke out often against the law that none of the people of Israel were following anyway.  In fact, since they were not following it, it really became a stumbling block to them - or to us.  It would be good for us to live by grace and not by the law.

As far as the temple is concerned - Jesus gave it a raise.  He didn't speak out against it, He told us that the temple now resided in the people of God.  That the 'Kingdom of God' was now a part of daily life, instead of religious life.

They accused Stephen of these things.  They accused Jesus of these things.  They will accuse us of turning the world upside-down.

May we live lives that change lives!
