Acts 12:6-8
"And on the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains; and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared, and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and roused him, saying, 'Get up quickly.' And his chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, 'Gird yourself and put on your sandals.' And he did so. And he said to him, 'Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.'"
There comes a point after God rescues you over and over and over that you begin to have confidence in His hand.
I wonder if Peter was there yet.
Here we see Peter in jail... again. And when the angel comes to rescue him... again, he simply picks up and begins to leave. This reminds me of the way we are constantly surprised at God's hand. When He moves in our lives, we often act like we have never seen anything like it before.
It is the same with our communication with God. When He speaks to us, we are amazed. Peter was not. Peter was growing accustomed to hearing from God.
Perhaps this is where we should be.
What if we began expecting to hear from God daily. Would God answer the way He always has? Would that lead us to more expectation of hearing from the Lord?
Expect Godly things. We will hear from Him today, whether we are in prison or not.
