Acts 14:1-4
"And it came about that in Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a great multitude believed, both of Jews and of Greeks. But the Jews who disbelieved stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brethren. Therefore they spent a long time there speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands. But the multitude of the city was divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles."
There are two essential reasons why Paul and Barnabas are so effective in Iconium.
One reason: they are determined to do the work of evangelists. They will not relent, they will not give up. they may move from place to place, but their love of god keeps them speaking.
The second and most powerful reason is that they let the powerful One do the work. They set God up for being able to bear witness to His own word. All Paul and Barnabas have to do is speak boldly.
Now speaking boldly is not always the easiest thing to do. But it is the necessary thing to do.
Will you be bold today?
Say what needs to be said. Allow God the chance to work in your life.

Saying what needs to be said is a great phrase to teach us that the Holy Spirit will speak through us and wants to speak through us for the highest good of those around us. When our motives are predicated on loving others and speaking the life giving truth about God's love and deep desire to prosper us is when the Holy Spirit can accomplish His work in the speaker and the listener. Thanks for the scripture and the directive to throw off every hindrance and keep up the good work of the gospel. Our very lives and the very lives of others can depend on it.
