Acts 23:23-30
"And he called to him two of the centurions, and said, 'Get two hundred soldiers ready by the third hour of the night to proceed to Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen.' They were also to provide mounts to put Paul on and bring him safely to Felix the governor. And he wrote a letter having this form: Claudius Lysias, to the most excellent governor Felix, greetings. When this man was arrested by the Jews and was about to be slain by them, I came upon them with the troops and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. And wanting to ascertain the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their council; and I found him to be accused over questions of their law, but under no accusation deserving death or imprisonment, and when I was informed that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, also instructing his accusers to bring charges against him before you."
God's dream for Paul is that he lead people to Christ in the government world. This is how God is accomplishing that dream.
God saves Paul's life from the angry mob. Next, God speaks words of wisdom to the captain of the guard about Paul's status. Now, Paul is being sent to Felix, the governor. When Paul prepares to speak to Felix, he prepares to speak words of Life, not condemnation. He prepares to show Felix the way to Christ.
We often struggle in discerning the correct way to pray for our leaders. Should we pray that God remove them? Should we pray that God render them powerless?
We should pray that they discover a God who loves them - and then who will change their lives.
And we, like Paul, should be willing to confront our leaders with the truth of Jesus Christ - that He is God and He is Love!

I deeply appreciate reading these words right now before our trip to DC. Truly,
we should pray that they discover a God who loves them - and then who will change their lives. And as Tree states,
we, like Paul, should be willing to confront our leaders with the truth of Jesus Christ This morning I was also reading Phil. 2: living in such a way that I am a credit to the message of Christ. It doesn't get any more powerful that that. Blessed assurance in Whom He is. Awesome.
