Ruth 2:17-19
"So she gleaned in the field until evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley. And she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. She also took it and gave Naomi what she had left after she was satisfied. Her mother-in-law then said to her, 'Where did you glean today and where did you work? May he who took notice of you be blessed.' So she told her mother-in-law with whom she worked and said, 'The name of the man with whom I worked today is Boaz.'"
Naomi sees the value of this man, Boaz, even before she knows his name or lineage.
A single act of kindness goes a long way. Ruth is treated kindly by Boaz, and the results of that kindness reach Naomi, and all who are associated with her. For that matter, we read about that act of kindness even today. That is how far grace travels.
Here is where we see Jesus:
Boaz cares for Ruth and therefore, ministers to Naomi. When Jesus cares for us, that grace is supposed to reach all of those around us. This is how grace and love change the world.
This is the effect the gospel has.
