Isaiah 7:14 - "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:  Behold, a virgin will be with Child and bear a Son, and she will call His name Immanuel."

Isaiah's prophecy follows an admonition to listen.  God has just told the people of Israel that they should not test the patience of God.  Because they did test Him, God would show is power in a rebuking way: destruction.

But this is the sign that God still desires us...  The point is, we often forget that God loves us enough to show grace in the most horrendous circumstances.  When we blatantly disobey, God must discipline.  Even in that discipline, God shows grace.

Do you look for the promise of God in the discipline of God?
Have you discovered grace in a place that you would have never expected?
When God gives both justice and mercy, on which do you choose to focus?
