Love for Thursday

Luke 14:12-13 - "And Jesus went on to say to the one who had invited Him, 'When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment.  But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind..."

Jesus said these words to remind us about our priorities.  We can either look at the now; getting our reward now, instant gratification, helping those that can help us...  or we can look at life through Heavenly eyes; giving reward that cannot be reciprocated by anyone except God, loving those who cannot give a blessing back, living for the future.

This is what happened on the day of Christ's birth.  The angels came and announced a party - to the shepherds!  They had no gifts worthy of a King.  They could not sing praises louder than the angels.  They were unequipped to accept the love.  So are we.  Yet they accepted.

Will you accept the invitation God gave to the shepherds?
Will you look at today through today eyes, or kingdom eyes?
How do you love others, with your reward in mind or with their reward in mind?
