What's that last part?

Genesis 2:17 - "But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die."
Genesis 3:3 - "But from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'"

It is a small thing, but there is a difference between what God tells Adam and what Eve tells the serpent.

We see that small things are often the entrance hall for sin to enter our lives.

This addition, 'or touch it', shows a basic breakdown in the communication between Adam and Eve.  And this is why Adam is 'credited' with the sin.  He does eat as well, though he knows he is not supposed to, but the greater sin is the poor communication skills.

It is Adam's responsibility to communicate exactly what God has told him.  It is our responsibility to do the same.  Here we see Christ:  Everything Christ does is EXACTLY what the Father has told Him to do.  Thus, sinlessness is Christ's call sign.

Will we be better at communicating God's word today?
