The Reason for Floods
Genesis 7:1 - "Then the Lord said to Noah, 'Enter the ark, you and all your household; for you alone I have seen to be righteous before me in this time.'"
We like to take out our frustrations concerning the flood and our sin on God. We blame Him for the loss of life, though it was clearly our own sin. We get mad because a loving God would not let people die...
Yet we forget about the salvation found in the flood.
There is a picture of Jesus we find in verse 1 of chapter 7. God is looking at a world in peril. Our sin has caught up to us, and we have held on to that sin rather than anything, God included. As a result of our decisions, we find ourselves at death.
Enter a dramatic and life-altering experience. God in the Flesh. Noah's righteousness. Complete paradigm shift.
Suddenly, we see the destructive power of our own sin. And, most importantly, we see that God has a way for us.
Jesus is the Way.
