Altar-ing the enviornment

Genesis 12:7 - "The Lord appeared to Abram and said, 'To your descendants I will give this land.'  So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him."

Faith and belief are not easy.  They are not meant to be.  Let me give you an example:

If you believe that food comes to life when you close the refrigerator door (something that has not been 'proven' by modern science) then you will have to alter your lifestyle.  Every time you close the fridge, you must check to see if you can get one glimpse as the door shuts.  You must do this with every refrigerator.  You would put cameras in the refrigerators of your life.  Anything - you would do anything to prove that what you believe is actually true.

Abram found himself in a similar situation.  He believed God was sending him to a 'promised land' (Something that could not be proven by conventional science).  He must have done everything he could to trust this life-altering promise.  So when he came to Shechem, and God appeared to him again, Abram saw the unbelievable.

What did he do?  What would you do if you found your 'living food' theory to be true?  You would publish the findings.  Abram built an altar.  Everyone that came across the altar would know that God had proven faithful in Abram's life.

Where are your altars?
