Ephesians 1:8-10

"In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the Heavens and things on the earth."

To sum this section up is almost a travesty.  There are gems involved here that must be handled with care as we interpret.

Paul is suggesting that the person who lives "in Christ" is privy to information about God's plan - about God's will.

Through all of that, Paul also suggests that God's will is mystery.  That God makes known to us His mystery is akin to handing me a book of poetry.  The mystery is known to me, but the interpretation of the mystery is still a mystery.

So we are not meant to know all of the plans of God, we are meant to have the freedom to study them.  Even more, we have the Great Interpreter, the Holy Spirit, to help us on that journey.

So the gift from God is knowledge about His will.  The qualifier is that we only have a view.
