Ephesians 2:7
"so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
Paul is describing motive here. Why grace? Why God's surpassing riches? Why does God pour out His love on us?
So that we would show...
God's grace is turning us into something else. It is a sign. We are a symbol.
Think of a light post on the street that does not work. Enter the power source. Suddenly, the light shines, and everyone knows where to go.
Now consider a dead man - dead and trapped in his transgressions - unable to see grace, let alone show it. Enter our Savior. Suddenly our light shines.
Shine.
