I deeply appreciate reading these words right now before our trip to DC. Truly,
we should pray that they discover a God who loves them - and then who will change their lives. And as Tree states,
we, like Paul, should be willing to confront our leaders with the truth of Jesus Christ This morning I was also reading Phil. 2: living in such a way that I am a credit to the message of Christ. It doesn't get any more powerful that that. Blessed assurance in Whom He is. Awesome.

Saying what needs to be said is a great phrase to teach us that the Holy Spirit will speak through us and wants to speak through us for the highest good of those around us. When our motives are predicated on loving others and speaking the life giving truth about God's love and deep desire to prosper us is when the Holy Spirit can accomplish His work in the speaker and the listener. Thanks for the scripture and the directive to throw off every hindrance and keep up the good work of the gospel. Our very lives and the very lives of others can depend on it.

Showing salvation is doing what Jesus did: loving the unlovable. Showing salvation is sharing our trials and sufferings that we've overcome through accepting the free gift of His love and redemptive power to proof to others that they can do the same. Just as Jesus showed His scars to the disciples after His resurrection, we can do the same and say, "See? These wounds, they have turned to scars that don't hurt anymore. I survived." We can be sure that we will not escape trial and suffering in this life. What a pity it is for those who never experience the comfort, reassurance, joy and peace He offers in the midst of them.

This is a good word of encouragement. We tried to talk to some friends about Jesus' love for them and His sacrifice this week. Our words fell on deaf ears. It's still all about their goodness. We can't let that hinder us from continuing to tell others, yet it is discouraging.

What a simple but deep concept: that when we are made aware of our sin, we can immediately turn, repent and be redeemed by the God that created us in love. Paul was able to speak into the lives of the people who heard him. Thank God He enables us to do the same. And what a privilege it is when motivated by the love of God.

Its an incredible gift that He is patient beyond our comprehension, that He will not "hold his anger forever". That always, we can change our attitude and repent and he will love us. Thanks for the reminder.

I love Proverbs. It's straightforward and hard to misinterpret. Our current financial crisis could have been avoided and could be begin to heal if only people would do more listening than speech making. Fear the Lord and seek his wisdom.

I understand that gifts from God are not necessarily material gifts but gifts of character, such as love and compassion. I find that my gifts fit well into the will of God. For example, by God first loving me and showing me what true love is I can now truly love others in this world and ultimately they will see the love of God through me. It is through my testimony and the way I live my life for Christ that the greater purpose of the will of our Saviour will be displayed and served.
